What are Skin Peels and how do they work?

At  Regents Park Aesthethics we offer a wide range of skin peels to suit every skin type and need. If you prefer less downtime and a milder peels then opt for the ZO skin stimulation, Blue Radiance or Glycolic peel. If you want more dramatic results or have skin concerns such as acne scarring or pigmentation and don’t mind 3-4 days downtime with skin peeling, then the ZO 3-step peel or Perfect Peel is for you. For something in-between with mild downtime and slight skin falking we have the PRX-T33 Biorevitalisation Therapy peel

Superficial Skin Peels

Peels suitable for anybody who is new to skin peels, or does not want any significant downtime. You are often not Peel or have any skin flaking, but instead just have a nice glow and improved texture.

Red Carpet ZO Skin Stimulation Peel

This is a favourite among our celebrity clients  before a big event, hence the name. The ZO Skin stimulator peel uses a combination of three exfoliating ingredients- glycolic, lactic and citric acid to slough away dead skin cells and any superficial blemishes to reveal fresh, clearer skin underneath. It also stimulates cell turnover for continued improvement to the skin.

Obagi Blue Radiance Peel

The Blue Peel Radiance is a quick, superficial 20% salicylic acid-based facial chemical peel that exfoliates and helps improve overall complexion, and provides firmer, smoother, brighter-looking skin after just 1 use. A series of 4 to 6 monthly peels provides best overall results.

PRX-T33 BioRevitalisation peel

PRX-T33 is a revolution of needle-free BioRevitalisation peel based on the popular trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel. TCA is one of the most popular peeling treatments, as it is an incredibly effective, painless, non-toxic peel that stimulates the skin’s natural regenerative process with no downtime.

This new method of needle-free BioRevitalisation is proven to tighten and improve the appearance of skin – without damaging the epidermis. Unlike most other skin peels, PRX-T33 is not photosensitising so it can be performed at any time of the year – even in summer! ZO Medical 3-step stimulation Peel

A 3 step system which is suitable for all skin types, the 3-Step Stimulation Peel from ZO Medical is designed to exfoliate the top layers of skin and stimulate cellular function in the skin’s deeper layers whilst calming and soothing the skin. It’s a system which means little or no downtime and is now available at Regents Park  Aesthetics.

When you come in for the 3 step stimulating peel, your expert practitioner will follow the below steps:

Step 1 – This is the application of the peel solution itself. A blend of 17% salicylic, 10%  trichloracetic (TCA) , and 5% lactic acids, these ingredients minimise inflammation and help hydrate the skin.

Step 2 – Stimulating Retinol Creme. This is applied after the peel solution, and works to stimulate cellular function at a deep level for collagen enhancement, firming, and wrinkle reduction.

Step 3 – Application of the Calming Creme Post Procedure Skin Relief. This cream is used as a finishing product to minimise any inflammation and irritation that may result after the first two steps, and restore moisture.

Frequently Asked Skin Peel Questions

Both the Jessner’s & Obagi Blue radiance peels can improve your skin’s look, texture, and feel in a matter of minutes by giving superficial exfoliation, with little to no downtime.

The skin peels will provide instant radiance & tighter, smoother, brighter-looking skin after just one use, although a series of up to 4 peels can provide better overall results. It is particularly effective in the treatment of sun damage, and results in an overall improvement in texture and tone. It may also be beneficial in the treatment of darker skin with pigmentary changes.

While Blue Peel RADIANCE is formulated to be gentle, you may experience mild peeling and redness on your journey to revealing fresh, glowing skin. In fact, you should see noticeable results after just 1 treatment.
Follow these important steps to help keep your skin protected and healthy while your skin peel takes effect:
Use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 at all times for at least a week.  It is recommended that you continue to use these products to help protect your skin and maintain the benefits of the skin peel even after the initial week.
Avoid direct sun exposure. Too much sun exposure may cause improper healing and in some cases may reverse the benefits of the peel.
Treat the skin gently—DO NOT exfoliate—though you may experience mildly dry, red, or flaking skin for several days or more after your peel. Do not pick at peeling skin. The dead skin will naturally slough off.
Avoid alpha- and beta-hydroxy acid products, retinoids, retinols, and facial products containing fragrance for a few days after the peel. 

You should not have treatment if:

  • Active cold sores, herpes simplex, or warts in the area to be treated 
  • Wounded, sunburned, or excessively sensitive skin within the application 
  • Currently pregnant
  • Dermatitis or inflammatory rosacea within the peel application area 
  • Accutane® use within 12 months prior to the peel application 
  • History of radiation therapy in the application area 
  • Allergies to salicylates
